Equipment used for the measurement of received light at four points, as perceived by the Human eye. This includes all visible, direct and reflected light falling on the points.

The luminance of the points will then depend upon their reflectance, so an illuminated matt black surface will have a much lower luminance than an equally illuminated matt white one.
